The organisational structure of the Institute is implemented in a matrix form. FIBRE comprises four competence fields:

Composite structures and processes comprises three teams. An important factor in the success of the Institute is that the expertise-driven units work directly and closely together and are able to access the disciplines that are frequently required in projects, such as material characterisation, testing method development and simulations. In its dealings with other organisations, the Institute is structured into three divisions:

  • Lightweight Materials
  • Technical textiles
  • Natural fibres.
