ITHEC - International Conference and Exhibition on THErmoplastic Composites

In cooperation with the Bremen Exhibition Centre, Bremen Fibre Institute is holding a specialist conference with accompanying exhibition on the topic of "Fibre-reinforced Thermoplastics for High-Performance Applications"- ITHEC (International Conference and Exhibition on Thermoplastic Composites). The biennial event held in the International Congress Centre of the Bremen Exhibition Centre is aimed at international industrial companies and research groups from a range of specialist fields, such as the automotive, aerospace and energy sectors. During the 2-day conference, ITHEC will hold four wide-ranging lecture sessions focussing on the latest research developments and current demands and trends in industry. This event offers a unique platform for an intensive exchange between applied research and industrial implementation, as well as a wonderful opportunity to make new business contacts and meet other enterprises within your industry. Parallel to the conference, an exhibition will be held in the foyer of the International Congress Centre showcasing the technical achievements of thermoplastic composite materials from a wide range of companies and research groups.

First held in 2012, ITHEC aroused great interest among the 300 visitors from all corners of the globe. With some 30 exhibitors in the foyer of the International Congress Centre, visitors were able to take a closer look at the latest innovations in lightweight construction concepts, material trends, production technologies and application-specific testing methods for thermoplastic fibre composites. The participation of high-level industrial companies and major names from the field of research plus the positive feedback of visitors lead us to expect high levels of attendance at the next event in 2014.

A new focal point of the conference will be a lecture session on the subject of "Hybrid Materials & Technologies", which will deal with the topicality of combining metals and composites in the context of "Multimaterial Designs", and also the wide range of processing options offered by thermoplastic fibre composites in combination with modern production processes for the manufacture of components. Additional focal points are the processing of raw materials, textile and fibre technologies, the various semi-finished products and associated production methods. To round off the range of topics, the conference will also cover related developments in the field of simulation, component design, joining technologies, process monitoring and quality assurance, and testing methods.

ITHEC 2014 will be held on 27 and 28 October and will be hosted once again by the Congress Centre Bremen (CCB). We would particularly like to express our gratitude to the various industrial enterprises sponsoring the event, including TenCate, Evonik, TPRC and Krauss Maffei, as well as to Wirtschaftsförderung Bremen GmbH, who have enabled this event within the framework of the ERDF programme.

If we have aroused your interest and you would like to attend ITHEC, please feel free to contact us for further information on the conference programme and the accompanying exhibition.
